There’s a feeling you get when you’ve rediscovered a craft or hobby you’ve not touched for ages, maybe years.
Suddenly you can loose hours (again) on Pinterest, pinning all the things you want to make (copy).
You start filling an unreasonably large basket on Amazon/Hobbycraft without much thought as to exactly how many spare hours you have at your disposal.
I have a medium sized stash of yarn. I have a greater stash of fabric. I don’t (really) need a stash of something else.
With my stitching improving, becoming smaller, neater and more consistent, I have a need to embellish every day things with embroidery. Do you think I can mange to embroider 8 linen napkins for my Mother’s birthday on 8th February? Probably not.
I have in mind
linen embroidered pouches for keeping my jewelry separate
a couple of matching embroidered cushions
an embellished linen table runner
an embroidered glasses case
embroidered napkins for all my girlfriends birthdays this year
a whole wall of the downstairs loo covered in embroidery samples
To add to my old Quality Street tin full of embroidery skeins odds and ends I’ve just ordered a job lot of 36 DMC skeins and an embroidery hoop stand that you sit on! Hopefully I’ll find some linen in my stash.
Love, Lucie xx
I like your embroidery inspiration choices! Like many crafts there a lot of lovely things out there, and a lot of things that I could tactfully say are ‘not my taste’ or less tactfully ‘ugly’. You have good taste, in my humble opinion x

Then we are of the same opinion!
I try to write a lot more tactfully than I think. I think it’s probably a good rule for life and one that some would benefit greatly from.

I just died with your choices. They are gorgeous. As I scrolled down, I kept telling myself, “Oh, I love that one….no, wait, I love that one more” (repeated with every new picture.)

You make me want to take up embroidery but I’ll try to resist.. I think those red trees are my favourite – and those jellyfish things. I’m still thinking about re-taking up crochet so I’ll leave it at that for now. I look forward to seeing what you create and I am trying to get my head round sitting on an embroidery hoop – it sounds pretty uncomfortable to me 😉

I had to go back and check out the jelly fish! I couldn’t remember the embroidered jellyfish;)
I think you were thinking about taking up crochet this time last year?

beautiful! Embroidery on linen – so classy. Yes, I think you can make some napkins for your mother. Not sure about 8, but do they all have to be complete to give them to her? 🙂

Mother here! The linen napkins sound georgeous, but two would be sufficient for ladies who take tea. And they would be embroidered by you. Xx

I am still a maker of stuff we need so embroidery is off my radar at the moment and I have pledged not to buy any craft materials for a whole year – surprisingly January has been a breeze – there is just so much stuff in this house!! Jo x

I monogrammed some napkins a while back and loved it but just don’t seem to find the time any more. Love the penultimate one in the hoop – reminds me of that cowl necked top you made a couple of years ago.

Mum has put an order in for some napkins but I doubt she’ll have them before her birthday!

I love these ideas. They are great for dipping into too as they are all relatively small projects which will keep you engaged! Love the bumble bee and flower sample next to him.

Yes, that’s my thoughts exactly. Sometimes you need some quick projects in between the larger ones!
