The long sleeved Melilot

Posted by

Possibly my favourite blouse to date?

My fourth Melilot, this time in a Lady McElroy Viscose Challis Lawn from Minerva in this wonderful orange geometric print.

This is the Melilot Shirt from Deer and Doe. I think between me and my mum we’ve made 6 or 7 of these but this is my first long sleeved one.

This is in the Size 40, the same size as my Atelier Brunette one on the left. The green Crepe de Chine one and the yellow one are in size 38. The yellow one in a double gauze cotton is a perfect size but the green one is a little restrictive across the back, so I go with the size 40 now.

I’ve not used the curved hem, just hemmed it across at the length of the front section.

I’ve added just one pocket for interest and used the hidden placket so as not to interrupt the print

I don’t find the hidden placket instructions terribly good in this pattern but I muddle along and always seem to get there in the end.

I cut out most of the pattern pieces in a single layer to match up the horizontal lines but I couldn’t get my head around matching up the placket!! I like the way it has turned out.

It feels wonderfully high end!!

And certainly not my last Melilot!

Love, Lucie xx

  1. Love (and admire) the pattern matching. It’s a bold design and looks really good on you – the sort of fabric I’d possibly reject if I saw it on the bolt but one that really makes up into a gorgeous shirt
I like your longer hair – funnily enough I went to the hairdresser today and he persuaded me to keep it a bit longer than I usually would.
