Summer holidays

Posted by

I have a lovely week planned next week. I feel after these two last weeks at work, I deserve it!
I am often envious of other mothers able to spend a luxurioiusly long summer holiday with their children off from school. I haven chosen the working mum path so we try to cram it all into a single week.
So, Monday – a trip to Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. My daughter, now twelve, and I have made the annual pilgrimage to Chatsworth House each December to wonder at the house dressed up for Christmas. We indulge in hot chocolate and mulled wine whilst immersing ourselves in the brass bands and choirs bellowing out their Christmas message. We always promise ourselves that we will return in the summer; on Monday we will!

Tuesday – I’ll take my daughter into town where she will meet up with her friends while I stay a discrete distance away in a coffee shop. They will do what young girls do in Claire’s Accessories, Lush and the like.
Wednesday – Our big treat day. A trip to London and a tour around Buckingham Palace!

Thursday – School shoes shopping.
Friday – Meet up with a dear friend and her children. Perhaps a picnic, perhaps an adventure playground, definitely ice cream. A day when 12 year old can be 12 year olds.

I can’t wait.

Love, Lucie x

  1. Have a lovely time at chatsworth, I was there a couple of weeks ago in glorious sunshine – had to resist jumping in the lake! I’d recommend a whippy ice cream if its hot, they were very good (and enormous!) x

    1. Sun is shining this morning! A typical British day of sunshine and showers is forecast. Just enjoying a rare cup of morning tea brought to me by my partner whilst he goes off to work.
