After an incredibly busy 2 weeks at work when the available number of hours in the day (or evening) seemed not enough for immovable deadlines, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Let me show you what I have been working when I’ve managed to grab a few hours here and there.
It is a crochet bag made from raffia. It’s from a shop called FAB (for $85!) and no longer for sale but I though it was something I could emulate.
I have recently discovered a local (well, nearly local, Bradford) manufacturer of linen yarn Texere Yarns. They have a fantastic Mill Shop where they sell their own yarn and also masses of other brands, patterns, felting and other crafting goodies. The Mill Shop is only open at certain times but I would truly recommend a visit. Set aside a couple of hours, but take a cardi suitable for warehouse conditions. I discovered the place while on the search for linen yarn for a project for my wedding. A project currently under wraps until after the big day in July!
So here is the base
The linen splits a little but is not bad to work with. It’s fairly kind to my fingers!
Here is the bag progressed up the sidesWith it being linen, it stands up quite nicely. It is all done in double crochet.
I intend to line it and use some fusible fleece on the lining to give it some professional body.
I’ll hopefully finish it before I go away on holiday over Easter.
Well you can never have enough evening bags!

Love, Lucie
I’ve never been to Texere Yarns in person (being a Southerner) but I have used them online and they have some very interesting stuff. I have just bought some linen yarn (mixed with a bit of cotton) which I’m going to make a baby top with. I did notice that it splits when I was examining the ball of wool but I’ll just keep an eye out for that.
Are you going to do a similar sort of closure for your bag as the one in the last photograph?

Texere yarns is definitely somewhere to visit with a warm coat on. I couldn’t stay as long as I wanted with a cold moany almost teenager. The linen yarn colours are beautiful, aren’t they?
As for the bag, I want to put a zip in this one. Just need to figure out quite how.
