Happy birthday to Itch to Stitch! When Kennis contacted me a couple of weeks ago to enquire if I would to contribute to her 1st Birthday tour I was very flattered to be asked but slightly nervous as I had not used one of her patterns before.
Well I shouldn’t have been concerned. This top is my absolutely favourite make so far!
After cutting out, this top came together in just a couple of hours one evening.
The pattern and instructions are marvelous. It is a pdf print off but there is a special function that allows you to only print off the sizes you want. Measuring my recent Agnes top I could see I was in between sizes and so was able to print off the lines for two sizes on the same sheet and blend the two sizes together; smaller across the shoulders, blending to the larger size across the bust and back in at the waist.
The front top section is lined with the same jersey but with a woven facing to stop the neck line from stretching.
The back neckline has a woven bias strip edging. This was something else new to me working with a stretch fabric but something I will definitely use again.
There’s not a lot more to say except I LOVE IT!!!
I particularly love the way the top front section is ever so slightly longer than the lining piece beneath. This maintains this slight blouson effect over the bust.
I’ve worn it all day and it has washed beautifully. For the fabric details see this previous post.
Don’t forget Kennis’s giveaway on her site. Kennis has got 7 designers to give away their patterns and 7 product sponsors to give away their products. She is featuring 1 designer per day on her site, and one lucky winner will get 2 patterns from that designer. So make sure you check Itch to Stitch every day up to the 14th October. Check out more information towards the end of this post …..
Expect to see another Kathryn!
Love, Lucie xx

Ooh, I like the lining and facing methods, they should keep it in shape and make it really comfortable to wear. The style makes the most of that lovely fabric too:)

These details are fab! It just slips on and stays in place. Techniques I will take forward in other stretch garments. I’m really keen to try out some of her other patterns now.

I love how the circles seem to follow the neckline. Great matching of pattern to fabric, I imagine there’s going to be quite a few more of these in your wardrobe before long 😀

Thanks! I centred the pattern on a circle but the way the circles sit around the neckline is complete fluke! There’s definitely a couple more of these to come.

This looks like a very interesting pattern as it has some techniques I haven’t used with knits before. I do have some jersey in my stash so I might well have a look at investing. It looks great in that fabric you chose.

It seems to have been designed to last. I will definitely use these techniques again. I’m really considering the dress version for a little holiday we booked yesterday!

Lovely neck details- reminds me of Boden’s Ravello Top. Fab choice of fabric for it too. Looks a really useful and easy-to-wear top.

It’s bad when you know the names of more than a few of the items, I clearly need to get out more 😉
