When I read on the veryberryhandmade blog that Ali was hosting another ATC swap, I was keen to take part again.
To recap, an ATC, or Artist Trading Card, is a mini work of art made onto sturdy card 2.5″x3.5″. Orginaly hand drawn or painted, ATCs were never sold but were swapped with other artists. Their original aim was to enable people to collect small works by artists which they would otherwise not be able to afford. Ours, of course, are textile based ones.
Ali notified me that the recipitent of my card lived in Morocco of all places! How exotic!
But I was absolutely thrilled to receive my ATC from no other than fellow blogger Patch, from madebypatch. A blogger with whom I have conversed with other the past year and lives just a few miles away, down the M1, and to whom I had just sent a parcel of hexagons for her Collaborative Crochet Blanket.
So this is the lovely card I received from Patch last week. She was obviously more organised, than I was.

And this is mine. The theme was ‘Spring’ so I call this my ‘spring bouquet’. I used my machine free hand embroidery again, but this time sewed on some seed beads.
All packaged up to send to Morocco.
Better a little late than never.
Love, Lucie xx
What a lovely idea. Both the cards are beautiful.

I like yours…. Cunning plan to use the decorative stitching as a border.

Hello there! It needed the stitching to finish it. It was definitely missing something before.

How do you find out about these? Sounds like a great idea… Maybe I should start one…

I happened to follow this blog anyway but if you search on line there are online ‘clubs’ that just deal in ATC’s. Either fabric ones or paper based.

I love your stitched border, it provides the perfect outline for your ATC (which is also gorgeous)

Thank you very much. It’s so easy to forget those stitches on the sewing machine.

It’s really effective with the seed beads. I’ve never done an ATC before but this makes me want to have a go.
