Fibremood Veronica

This is the Fibremood Veronica from issue 20, released mid 2022, also available as a standalone pattern.

I made it for my birthday trip to South Africa in November but realised I hadn’t shared it on here.

As you know I love a collar, buttons and the details of chest pockets, this is no exception!

It comes as a sleeveless jumpsuit, collared playsuit, half placket dress, or a top; all with rounded chest pockets closed with a flap..

There are many more reviews for this dress on IG now, than there were in October 2022, and I must say I agree with the general consensus that the top half is a little roomy, which is why I only wear it with a belt to cinch it in. When I make it again, I will size down on the top.

This is made up in a stretch khaki cotton. The fabric is quite structured, I’m hoping it will soften a little with more wear and washing. I found the shoulders quite broad and took 1/2 inch off the width, on the shoulder.

Next time I will also raise the armsyce as they are also roomy

I made the UK size 10 – size small

I wish I had paid more attention to the ease. There’s a 7 inch ease allowance on the bust, whilst only 1 inch on the hip.

But when making a pattern for the first time I’m always cautious!

Next time size XS on top , size S on the bottom.

I kind of feel that the pattern is for a long sleeved shirt dress with the arms taken of, without making the adjustments for a sleeveless version. Or maybe that is the style intended.

Anyway, I’m off on holiday on Sunday and this will be coming with me!!

Love, Lucie xx

  1. One would never know looking at the dress that it is too large. I really like the idea of the belt. It looks great on you. I have a question. Would you use the same type of fabric again? If not, what would you recommend. No rush on your response. Enjoy your holiday!

  2. I like the idea of a pattern with so many different options – they are so expensive to buy these days especially if you only make the garment once.
    Enjoy your holiday .

    1. Yes completely agree. They can be the price of an actually shop bought garment. I think I have some patterns that I make multiple of so that kind of evens things out. That’s what I tell myself 🤣

  3. I always seem to find the stretch wovens are a bit stiffer, but I think this worked Rey well for you in this pattern. Love the extra long placket and those pocket flaps are perfect. Lovely on you and looks like the perfect dress to take along on holiday! Enjoy!
