Itch To Stitch Hepburn Turtleneck

Posted by

What with working from home, these 2 tops are already in rotation.

To keep out the chill, without ramping up the heating, I was after a couple of roll neck tops. To wear with perhaps a layer underneath rather than as a base layer, with a shirt on top. This is the Hepburn Turtleneck.

I think I picked up this pattern at one of the Itch to Stitch Sales.

My measurements (35.5 inches) put me at a size 4. The finished garment bust measurement at this size was 31 5/8, at least 3 1/2inches of negative ease. For the ease I wanted, which was no ease, I sized up to sizes to a size 6.

The resulting fit is just what I was after. Perfect across the bust, across the shoulders and around the waist. I took an inch off the sleeve length.

I found the green Ottoman Rib Jersey on ebay here . I was trying to find a Ottoman Rib that cost a little less than the Meet Milk Ottoman Rib at £26/m. However the postage (from Austria) was extortionate and the fabric worked out at the same £26/m !!!. But I would definitely buy this again. It’s fabulous quality, and feels beautiful on the skin. Mistakenly I only ordered 1m but managed to squeeze out the top from the 1m by cutting the sleeves on the cross grain and adding separate cuffs.

The black is a good quality black cotton jersey but I can’t remember where from.

As I find with all Itch to Stitch Patterns, the instructions are brilliant.

It’s a pattern, I’d definitely recommend.

Love, Lucie xx
