Cottesloe Cowl

Posted by

I’m finally back at my sewing machine after being AWOL for a few months! And with BIG hair! I’m embracing my natural waves 😉.
I think I had made so much this year; it was time to slow down and have a break.

I’ve also started sketching and dabbling in watercolour which is something that has been in my family since I have known it but was never inclined to have a go until now and I must admit, I’m hooked!

I’ve a new IG page, still very much in its infancy.

Love_Lucie_drawsandpaints if you are at all interested.

Anyway, recently I dusted off my sewing machine to make my annual Christmas pyjamas for my grandson and the sewing mojo started re appearing!
Keeping it simple and first, a cosy ‘working from home’ sweater in autumn colours.

I’ve never been a brown fan, I must have been having an autumn moment when I ordered this unique Mind The Maker slub jacquard sweater knit on the Minerva discount weekend. I bought lots of brown or rust that month.

It has surprised me!

This is the Cottesloe Cowl by Waves and Wild. Chosen because of the cosy collar that is wide enough not to get covered in make-up and the fact they do a child’s version, which I’ve also made up for my grandson.

You may notice one eyelet. That is because it was meant to have 2 and a drawstring but I dislodged one and there was no going back, so I just sewed up the hole. It’s unnoticeable in the sweater knit.

I made the size small, according to my chest measurement. Next time I would make it a couple of inches shorter.
I had to piece the cowl together as I didn’t realise that I needed a ‘pair’ of cowl pieces and I was a bit gung-ho in my cutting out!

It was super easy and super quick, all on my overlocker. There are options for various different pockets but I really didn’t have the spare fabric and I would only have ended up with a kangaroo pouch full of used tissues!!!

So until next time, it’s good to be back

Love, Lucie xx

Also am really enjoying your fabric choice/colour. Have been getting it if I see it over here, but all the best fabric seems to be your side the pond.) And your hair! 🥰 Ya shoulda gone natural sooner, luv!!! (Sorry, but my Like button’s gone walkabout. Again. 😖)
