My final holiday frock, the Highlands Wrap Dress by Allie Olson.

For a wrap dress there is quite a lot that goes into this make, The Highlands Wrap Dress is a woven dress with a faced V-neckline, elasticised back waistband, and waist ties. There’s a midi and a maxi length with a long slit and short sleeves or no sleeves with armhole facings. There are many beautiful ones on IG.

I graded between sizes, in between a size 6 and 8 at the bust to a size 10 at my waist. I left it at a size 10 over the hips although my hip measurement was a size 8. You do have to get the size at the waist right because although it is a wrap dress, it is secured by hidden tabs and press studs.

I liked the back waist band as it gave definition around the back but I didn’t need to insert elastic into it; it was already the perfect size for across my back, on my waistline. It didn’t need to be cinched in any further!

The fabric is a Lady McElroy spotty viscose linen in ‘Sky’ from Minerva. I wasn’t sure whether to go for the maxi or not but I thought I’d go with the longer length and perhaps crop it in the future.

It is a perfect fit across my back. I feel completely secure with the hidden tabs, which I could undo if I needed to.
The pattern is drafted for a height of 5ft 6. A 5ft 3 I had to cut exactly 3 inches off the bottom to get this length.

It’s a lovely lovely dress. I really enjoyed making it.
Love, Lucie xx

You have been making a lot of dresses lately! I really like this one, so elegant. The fabric is beautiful too.
