I seem to be on a roll with my sewing at the moment. I’m sure I’ll hit another wall soon but meanwhile I’ll enjoy another very successful make. This is the Vondel Wrap Dress and Top by Halfmoon Atelier

This is the size 4 with no alterations. I always find it useful to know other bloggers stats for comparison so here goes. I’m 35”, 30”, 37”, bust, waist, hip. The size 4 stated 34 3/4”, 28 1/4”, 38 1/2” with the finished garment measurements as 36 1/2”, 41”, 42 1/2”. I would say the size 4 fit is perfect on me.

The line drawing shows 3 lengths. I went with the middle one but lengthened it by 2 1/2 inches at the lengthen line as it looked little short for me on the model.

It has a one-piece shoulder yoke with a curved center back and front and back gathers for shaping and three sleeve length options – cuff, half-sleeve and 7/8-sleeve
I have added a press stud for modesty but it’s not too obvious as the fabric isn’t pulling there.

The base of the back yoke dips down a little which is a lovely feature.

I made it up in a linen-like viscose from Abakhan bought on a visit early in the summer. Unfortunately I can not find it online as I would heartily recommend it. It is very cool and comfortable against my skin. As I get older I am less tolerant of any slightly scratchy fabric on my skin, especially in the short freakishly hot heat waves we’ve been having.

I love the really long tie. It is an extension of the front bias binding.

The details in the instructions to achieve a really beautiful finish are clear and straight forward to follow. Including french seams, even for the pockets – something I didn’t even know was possible!

Lovely little sleeve caps, although others have left these off.

And that’s about it! So we just need a loooong Indian summer to get lots of wear from it but it’ll be top of my suitcase for a little winter sun we are planning.
Love, Lucie xx

Ooh, going on a little holiday? 😉
Just the dress for it.
Lovely fabric – I thought it was quite sheer at first but I think it’s because the background pink is almost skin coloured. Your measurements are almost the same as mine – height too – so I know what size to make if I give in to temptation.

I’ve looked at the photos again and can see exactly what you mean regarding it looking sheer!!! However, thankfully, it is not but just skin coloured in this bright sunshine.
And yes, a holiday (Cambodia!), but only my 3rd one this year 😉
