Back to a sunny(I know!!!) Wakefield after a truely wonderful week away in Kalkan, Turkey.
My previous experience of Turkey was on an entirely different sort of holiday, i.e. before Freya. Then, around 15 years ago, Marmaris suited my requirements perfectly.
Now my priorities centre around good food, a pretty harbour setting, a few interesting trinket shops and a market for me and my daughter to peruse, some chilled laid back bars from which to watch the world go and some cultural heritage sites thrown in when we’ve really had enough of the pool/beach/harbour.
Kalkan did not disappoint on any point. Whilst not an authentic piece of Turkey, for us it was perfect.
We will return, but perhaps not to this exact apartment which whilst perfect in every way, required climbing equipment to reach it!

It looks divine! What a great time you picked to go as you certainly didn’t miss anything weatherwise in the U.K. (France is the same). I’ve never been to Turkey but everything you were looking for in a laid back break is just what I would want too so maybe I should consider it. The other sort of holiday I fancy – now that the girls are too old to play sandcastles with – is an activity holiday. Not the sort where you do anything energetic (heaven forfend) but where you learn a new craft or improve a current one. The problem is finding something both Mr. T and I fancy as he wouldn’t be in to anything involving fabric and I don’t really fancy making furniture out of green wood…..or do I?

I would so love to do such a break but alas it would not be my partner’s idea of a holiday. So when I no longer have to save all my holidays to cover the school hols I shall take myself off somewhere. A few days learning a new skill with a group of like minded people sounds perfect.

Phew I had a really horrid thought that you weren’t going to show a picture of your lovely bag being used! So glad you did. It looks divine and I am not going to look to much – I will turn a funny shade of green!!
