I love my Hudson Pants

Posted by

With the UK weather decidedly unseasonably wet and chilly, my Hudson Pants by True Bias have seen an awful lot of wear recently.

They are the first thing I reach for when I get home after work. The fabric Atelier Brunette Twinkle Loop Back Jersey in Navy from Minerva Crafts is the softest perfect weight for these joggers. There is a tiny raised gold dot in the fabric which raises them into something a little smarter.

I put off making them for a long time, thinking the skinny leg silhouette too young for me. But no, they are perfect. My daughter gives them her full approval and I can see several being made up for her start at Uni in September (fingers crossed!!!!).

I made a straight size 4 according too my hip measurement. My waist measurement puts me at a size 6 – 8 but I thought the elasticated waist would deal with that.

They were a quick simple make. I thought sewing the horizontal lines across the thick elastic waist band would be my downfall but the instructions were clear and it was a doddle.

Next time I need to stretch the pocket binding a little to get rid of the slight gape, but I am nit picking here.

I chose to do the pocket lining is in a thin cotton jersey from my stash to reduce bulk in the pockets – a cheeky red cheetah print!

I would definitely purchase this fabric again, despite it’s £22/m cost. These used 1.5m. They feel so luxurious I feel they are worth every penny.

Matching sweatshirt top? Too much? What do you think?

Love, Lucie xx

  1. I feel jersey is worth paying more for is if it washes well and doesn’t bobble. If you find a good one like yours it’s definitely worth it and much better for the planet as you’ll get loads more wear out of it. Always think really cheap fabric is a false economy unless you’re experimenting.

  2. I’m thinking about making a pair of Hudson’s in this fabric. How does it wear?

I’m worried that it won’t be stretchy enough and they’ll start to go baggy round the knees and bum.
