Welcome Ada

Posted by

We have another new member to our family! Another set of cousins have just welcomed their third child, Ada. A lovely name, don’t you think? Vintage but contemporary. Needless to say, I took advantage of the Bank Holiday weather (rain) and ran up a few bits and pieces for the new arrival.Bibs and Burb ClothsBibs and Burb Cloths It was a great opportunity to use some of the fabric received as part of Sewsewnice’s fat quarters club.Bibs and Burb ClothsBibs and Burb Cloths They are all backed by micro fleece.Bibs and burb cloths I put them together in exactly the same way as ones I had made previously for an old work coleague. You can find the details here. I also made a couple of these very useful ‘wet bags’.They measure 9” square and are for baby’s changing baby to put in wet clothes or dirty reuseable nappies, lotions etc.Wet bagsWet bags They are lined with waterproof PUL fabric. Wet bagsPUL is a polyester/polyurethane laminated knit fabric. It is waterproof, durable and has a slight crossgrain stretch. It is generally used in making nappies, changing mattress covers and other applications that require waterproof breathable fabric. It is quite an amazing fabric. It feels like very thin wet suit material. It is machine washable up to 60 degrees and can go in a low heat dryer. It comes in a massive range of colours and prints. The online shop Plush Addict has a huge range. Just click on here. I had not used it before but now I’m just imagining what else I can make with it.
These are all now parceled up to commence their journey in the post to the south coast.
Hope you all had a lovely Spring Bank Holiday, those of you in the UK. Pity about the weather.
Love, Lucie xx

  1. Aaah. What would a British bank holiday be without rain?
I’m surprised you didn’t make another banner for this new addition. WIth such a short name you wouldn’t have had to do too much appliqué work!

      1. Best not to go there….I was the same. I tell myself that at least my boys are now seeing me do it and are picking up on the skills which they couldn’t have done as a baby!
